“Maximize your stress relief by staying at the Walnut Hollow Ranch. The setting is serene and beautiful. Every room was immaculate and exceptionally clean. Mattresses and pillows were the same as a five (5) star hotel at a fraction of the cost. Very affordable and accommodating. In all honesty, I was a bit reluctant to experience a hostel type of stay as I was afraid it would be a step back to college dorm days. This was definitely not the case. It was nice to meet and converse with other very nice guests. As an added bonus, we purchased a pound of Charlie's grass fed beef and cooked it on the outdoor grill. It was by far the best hamburgers that I ever tasted. We took six (6) pounds home with us.”

The place is a 10/10! We had an amazing experience and we plan on coming back! It was perfect to be able to unplug from technology and focus on each other and the nature around us. We loved seeing the deer and wild turkey every morning and being able to walk the trails on the property! Could not have been more perfect. Charlie and Carol and Randy were all very sweet, thoughtful and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!

Charlie is a great host. Went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Highly recommend staying at his farm. Charlie was an awesome host. He invited us to meet some of the animals on the farm. We enjoyed our stay.

The Ranch Room at Walnut Hollow is a very comfortable and clean place to stay. The ranch is located in Hayesville, North Carolina. You are surrounded by mountains and the ranch property is beautiful. There is a fishing pond located on the ranch and lots of waking trails. If you enjoy beautiful scenery, you will not have to leave the ranch to find it. I enjoy taking pictures and some of the most beautiful pictures I took was on the walking trails around the ranch. We never got bored during our 10-day stay there. It is a peaceful and relaxing place to visit. It is in the country, but close to town. Charlie, the owner of the ranch, and his staff, make you feel right at home. They treat you like family. We have stayed on the ranch several different times and we look forward to staying there again the next time we go in that direction.

Just do it! We stayed for a long weekend - relaxing and enjoyable for our six and eight year old boys. Everything was very clean and Charlie was a fantastic host. Do it!

A different kind of hostel.... agritourism rocks! The hostel at this cattle ranch is a great place to relax and unwind! The room was nicely appointed, clean and very comfortable with beds, kitchen table and sofa seating area! Outside, there are umbrella’ed picnic tables on a patio that overlooks a lush green field of cows ... no cow smell either! You have access to the ranch kitchen and grills for cooking meals should you choose, but great dining is close by should you choose not! Charlie is an excellent host! His beautiful ranch has horses and goats as well as the cattle...it has a spring fed fishing pond that one can swim in too. Hiking trails lead up to view the ranch and the surrounding mountains! You can purchase Charlie’s humanely raised meats in his onsite shoppe. This is by no means a glam ranch, but a highly comfortable working ranch and we enjoyed visiting with other agritourism visitors who arrived in self contained campers from near and far! The only inconvenience was the shared all in one bathroom...there is not an alternate toilet for guests to use when another guest is showering, but it is a hostel so this was expected. Looking forward to a return visit!

My husband and I attended a wedding in Hiawassee, Ga. Needing somewhere close to the Venue, we chose Walnut Hollow Ranch. We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations as we stayed in a shared kitchen and bathroom set up. Having never done this we were somewhat skeptical, but, these folks are so warm and welcoming, the accommodations were spotlessly clean , very comfortable and we found the “shared spaces” to be no problem. We’ll definitely consider the Ranch for future stays be it in our MotorHome or one of the rooms. Charlie also does ranch tours, has exceptional beef products for purchase, and MotorHome accommodations.

If you can't relax at Walnut Hollow Ranch then your relaxer is broken. This place is awesome and Charlie should get Host of the year if there is such.

“Charlie was the warmest host. He was always helpful and especially caring because we were a bunch of students. His barn is soooo beautiful, scenic and he helps one make plans once you are there, and very explicitly guides you through maps and online. He is always available on the call, and he specially made sure in the night that we reached the barn safe. I would love to go there again, and recommend it to everyone I know. Thank You Charlie :)”

“Charlie was an amazing host and went above and beyond for us. We travelled with our dog and he was very accommodating and helpful with him. The space was large and very clean. The shared spaces (kitchen and bathroom) had everything we needed. The ranch is gorgeous and not far outside of Hayesville. We got to see the livestock along with a few other farm animals. We will definitely keep this place in mind the next time we visit! ”

We just happen to be the only guest on the ranch, the day after Thanksgiving. We had the entire downstairs unit all to ourselves. Walnut Hollow is a beautiful place, and the perfect place for couples to re-connect. At first we were disappointed about not having a television to watch the football games on, but that turned out to be a blessing to us. We spent time talking and walking up and down the mountain trails in back of the ranch. As far as you could see, in every direction, was the beautiful creation of God to behold. So our walks and our talks were inspired by this place and, Charlie, the owner and manager of the ranch, was first class also. We enjoyed getting to know him, and he made our stay there so much better. He was always available if we needed him for anything and the downstairs unit we were staying in was clean, comfortable, and attractively decorated. We could not have hoped for more than we received from spending time at this beautiful ranch. I took lots fo pictures to be reminded of all the beauty that was there (the cows, the horses, the donkeys, the goats, and even Charlie’s cat -- and last but not least, the beautiful mountains that surrounded us, and the green grass on the rolling hills and the churches on those hills). It was peace and tranquility and a blessing from God to be there. So for those of you who are looking for a place to get away and re-connect, we recommend Walnut Hollow Ranch. It has something there for all ages --

All in all I really enjoyed my stay. My room was clean, as were the bathroom and Kitchen. Charlie and Suzy are wonderful hosts, and genuinely good people. The ranch was beautiful and I spent many pleasant mornings walking my dog around the pond, visiting the cows, and watching the bluebirds hop along the fences.

We stayed at Walnut Hollow over the Eclipse weekend. Although we didn't take advantage of the tours and other amenities we had a great time. Charlie was an excellent host and his ranch is pretty awesome. Definitely buy some meat while you are there, it was delicious!

Walnut Hollow Ranch is more than you will ever expect! I cannot even describe the breathtaking beauty of the setting. The kindness and hospitality of Charlie, Mark, and Jackie surpassed any expectation I had more than 100% We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this to anyone seeking a quiet out of the ordinary stay in the mountains of North Carolina.

We loved our stay on the ranch! The property is beautiful and well taken care of. Charlie, your host, has tons of information on the nearby areas including hikes, mountain biking and other activities. Our biggest piece of advice would be to make sure not to set up your tent too close to the pond -- we had a bullfrog as our neighbor for the evening! However we WOULD highly recommend going to the Walnut Hollow Ranch store and buying steak and other local goods. Amazing stuff!

Beautiful, quick getaway from Atlanta. It was nice to unplug for a little bit. We loved that we could purchase bacon and eggs (among many other offerings) on site and enjoyed eating on the farm. We ventured out to Cold Creek winery and did some hiking as well.Great trip & accommodations. We'd definitely come back.

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay at Walnut Hollow Ranch. The steak and eggs we bought from Charlie were delicious!! The best you will ever eat! I so enjoyed eating breakfast on the patio every morning listening to the cows and the birds!! It is such a peaceful retreat! Seeing the 20 wild turkeys was so cool! Watching the morning sky reflect on the pond was beautiful. Charlie was a wonderful host and very informative about the ranch and the area! The Loft had everything we needed. Our daughter enjoyed all the animals. Learning more about the true local farmer and their humane ways was truly enlightening. Support your local farmer, food co-op, farmers market, etc. Thank you for everything Charlie!
